How did you respond when the moment chose you?

The year 2020 indeed brought its shares of challenges with a double pandemic, loss of jobs, instability, isolation, and a sense of hopelessness. As we reflect over the past year, I would like to pose a question to all who reads this personal reflection. The world stood still for 8 minutes and 46 seconds as we all witness another human life being snuffed out right before our eyes. Humanity held her breath as we witnessed this atrocity. Many times, in the past, we have accepted the status quo and adjusted our way of life to accommodate things that was never meant to be—but that moment disrupted the status quo! We are on the verge of something fabulous, exciting, and transformative that will require your best self to show up every day!

Self-reflection

My question to you today is ……

What did you do personally when the moment chose you?

How are you different?

What were you compelled to do?

Did you lean in … or did you shrink back?

Did you speak up …. or did you stay silent?

Did you examine yourself?

I ask these questions to provoke a bit of self-assessment and introspection now a couple years later. That moment, I believe chose us all and it is a great opportunity to take a pause and make sure we allowed the moment to transform ourselves and our systems that we belong to..

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

For those that truly launched out into the deep waters by saying, “I don’t know what to do but I am open to learn. I don’t know what to say, I don’t want to say the wrong thing, I am hurt but I rise, and I am wounded, but I still believe;” I applaud you.  I want to say, “Thank you! Thank you for having the courage to stare injustice in its face and choose not to accept it any longer.  Thank you for sharing your truth unapologetically.  Thank you for being a part of the change by being ok, with not being ok at times.

As we continue to navigate these tumultuous waves, I encourage everyone to remember that you have been chosen for this moment …. every moment you have a choice to react or respond, to speak up or stay silent, to support or ignore, to seek knowledge, or stay ignorant to love or to hate and to forgive or stay imprisoned. We have a choice!

I am more resilient than ever now because I took care of my spirit, soul, and body through this double pandemic. We have been through a lot, but we still have a choice to let the double pandemic, make us bitter or better. Let’s accept this transformative moment and emerge, more powerful, more conscious, more intentional—because we truly are better together!
